Hosting a Baby Boy Shower Soon? Here are some resources!

Seniors

March 10, 2025

Are you hosting a baby shower soon? Let me share with you some things we recently did for my daughter’s baby shower!

A few weeks ago, some lovely hosts and I organized a baby shower for my oldest daughter. While we didn’t have a specific theme, we played off the trendy dusty blue color and bows! Most of our décor came from Amazon, or things we already owned. The great thing about this “theme” is that it can be used in any season and work for either a boy or girl, just by changing the color! Be sure to check out my IG profile for a highlight on all things baby shower! You can find all the items we used HERE!

As far as what I wore, I ordered this dress from Amazon! I LOVED it so much! I had such a hard time finding a good blue dress for the shower but this one was amazing and comes in many other colors. It would be perfect for all showers, graduation, wedding guest and so much more!

For dividing responsibilities: my youngest daughter, who was also a host, created a group message where everyone could sign up for what they felt comfortable bringing. This worked out wonderfully!

For the star of the show, we set up a photo backdrop with a balloon arch and hung sweet baby clothes that my daughter already had, using tiny command hooks. My husband owns a Millwork company, so we were lucky enough to use one of his creations for the backdrop! One of the hosts hired a local balloon company for the arch, though we’ve done it ourselves for other parties—just be prepared for sore fingers from tying all those balloons! See a DIY option on Amazon HERE and HERE for the best balloon pump that will save you so much time!

For the table décor, we used a dusty blue cheesecloth and vintage-looking bud vases (all from Amazon). We also added glass vases with floating disc candles to bring some height and dimension to the table. Simple, yet impactful once the food was all laid out!

We went with a brunch theme for food, serving bagels, croissants, sausage balls, donut hole skewers, and a yogurt parfait bar. The bagels and croissants were from Costco, a great deal! We also got whipped cream cheese from the store, which made spreading much easier than traditional cream cheese. The yogurt parfait bar was my favorite—so easy, cute, and delicious! We put Greek yogurt in a trifle dish and had berries and granola on the side in different bowls. My daughter-in-law brought adorable disposable parfait dishes, and they were a hit! Other hosts contributed cake balls, custom cookies, and a beautiful cake for the sweet treats.

For drinks, we served mimosas and sweet tea. My daughter and I were particular about the disposable champagne flutes, but we found some we loved, both for their shape and durability! We tied thin dusty blue ribbon bows around them, and they turned out so cute!

As for the flowers, my youngest daughter arranged them herself. She’s always had a passion for floral design, so it was an easy way to save money and do it ourselves! We ordered blue and white hydrangeas, ranunculus, spray roses, and greenery from our local grocery store florist. We called ahead to ensure they had what we wanted. We spent about $80, which was enough to make two medium arrangements and 16 bud vases!

A few tips when arranging flowers:

  • To keep them fresh, add ¼ teaspoon of bleach to every 1/3 gallon of water in the vase. Stir to mix, then cut the flower stems at a 45-degree angle. This increases the surface area of the stem, allowing the flowers to absorb more water and stay fresh longer.
  • Start with the larger flowers (like hydrangeas and roses) and fill in with the smaller ones and greenery.

I also made a big bow from a paper-like table runner roll I got from Amazon! I created each section separately—left loop, right loop, center dot, and ribbon ends—and secured them with rubber bands. Then, I wrapped the center loop around the two loops. I stuffed tissue paper in the left and right loop to make them appear more full and structured. I then used double-sided sticky dots to place the bow on the window, and it was good to go!

For signage and paper goods, we did a 16×20 welcome sign on foam board, which we designed on Canva (see FREE template we desinged HERE). We got it printed at Minuteman Press—it was the most affordable option at the time. We also did “prediction & advice” cards (see FREE template HERE) where guests could fill out predictions and advice for the new parents. We printed and cut these out at home on cardstock. Since we didn’t have any baby shower games, this was a great way to get guests interacting, and the couple had so much fun back at home, alone, reading all of the great advice from loved ones!

This shower was so much fun to plan and put together! I hope you find this guide helpful when planning your own shower in the future!
