I say often that finding community within the entrepreneurial space is so important. I also highly value it in my personal life. Community is what helps us thrive.
I was recently gifted the book ” Find Your People” by Jennie Allen…it’s about how the world is now both more connected and more isolating than ever before and how we were meant to be in community with one another.
These were my high school people …and turns out….they’re still my people.
The ones you can have real conversations with, not the pretend-my-life-is-perfect kind of conversations. The deep, long conversations…the hard stuff, the fears, trials, and the laughter!
The group as a whole somewhat lost touch, but the year we all turned 50, we planned a trip to Seaside. We spent time having each person tell their life’s journey from high school to age 50. It took days to get through everyone’s story, some made us laugh, some stories made us cry….but we realized the friendships were still real, and meaningful.
Since then, we get together twice a year for a few days to reconnect, talk about life and share some laughs.
Check out a fun reel over on Instagram of our time together!
Something fun we did this time is each make (and share) a list of our favorite things, so we all have new things to try. This year we shared our favorite Instagram accounts, favorite beauty products and favorite shops. An added way to share and stay connected.
I highly recommend this book! The enemy wants us to stay isolated, and this reminds us why we shouldn’t and gives tips on how to FIND YOUR PEOPLE.
I will forever preach about how important community of every kind is. In business, neighborhoods, friends, family…every kind. Now more than ever!
Anyone else out there feel the world seems lonelier? Tell me here.
